The number of near-Earth asteroid discoveries is rising exponentially, from one thousand in 2000 to 15,000 in 2016, 30,000 in 2022, and 40,000 in 2025. Fortunately space is huge and the chances of a spacecraft collision with one is very small.

The DOT withdrew its proposed airline passenger rights rule on Nov 17, 2025, citing regulatory burden, deregulation, and timing. Existing passenger rights rules will stay unchanged. Details in Federal Register:
