Dismantling ACA isn’t about punishing insurance cos. The subsidies Dems were haggling for are tax credits. That’s our money. Not theirs. They’re talking about health savings as pre-tax dollars like your 401k. This is deregulation. Letting insurance cos resume denying coverage and selling junk plans.

Plastics and petrochemicals have become the new frontier of the fossil-fuel economy. Under Trump's deregulation, the big oil industry has taken control of the regulatory bodies meant to protect us, as toxic compounds are now taking over the human body. #OpCanary #EndAutoGenocide 🧵
The Plastic Experiment
A global chemical crisis unfolds as industry turns inward. Plastic pollution becomes self-inflicted, an autogenocide of comfort, profit, and survival.

I’m not so sure. Before deregulation, airline tickets were a lot more expensive than after deregulation. Airline deregulation only affected routes and competition. Safety regulations are separate. We need for service standards and performance regulations (delays/cancellations, baggage, disabilities)

with the end of the shutdown looming, here's my look for @wired.com into what life has been like for EPA employees over the past five weeks: little to no heads up about who was getting furloughed next, important projects getting put on the back burner while deregulation moves forward:
The EPA Is in Chaos
“We learn who is furloughed when we send an email to someone and get the out-of-office message,” one employee tells WIRED.

Airline "deregulation" under Carter is a good thing to study to see the neoliberal turn in all its glory. It's been an absolute shit show for almost 50 years

Mostly Brexit as deregulation was founded on the misconception that only Brussels regulates rather than this being a global phenomenon that incredibly even includes supposedly free and easy (ha!) Singapore. A flawed premise that therefore couldn't succeed.
"Seizing Brexit opportunities to deregulate" was mostly unspecified magic fairy pixie bullshit then, and it's not going to get any more realistic in the hands of a bunch of Reform clowns who don't know how anything works, don't care to learn and disdain anyone that might.

Neoliberalism promised prosperity through deregulation, privatization, and free markets—but for rural Americans, women, Black and Latino communities, and LGBTQ+ people, it delivered precarity, inequality, and exclusion.

The European Commission seems hell-bent on removing hard-won protections for people's health, nature, human rights, labour rights and privacy – basically anything that powerful industries feel hurts their profits

This deregulation drive is hugely irresponsible – is it also illegal?
Deregulation plans break EU law, legal scholars warn
Over one hundred legal experts have warned that the EU’s Omnibus I package, which cuts green and social reporting rules, breached EU law and was "likely to be annulled" if adopted.

You also have High Rent, low pay; Mergers instead of Monopolies, Deregulation or lack thereof.

Always remember that Tories/Reform wanted Brexit so that they could ignore rules that everyone else followed. A race to the bottom. Deregulation. A bonfire of *our* rights and protections. Exploitation and consumer risk so that the wealthy and the powerful could grab more wealth and more power.
