grief is so weird. one moment you're fine hitting your workout at the gym and the next you're a mess. saw an advertisement of the new museum macan exhibition in an elevator and it made me think of the day my mother passed away.

went to the zoological museum today. not as triggering as i thought it would be. my mother used to take me and my brother there after going to the dentist when i was in elementary school. yes it did bring back memories but there was space between the memories and the emotions.

friend (with the best intention): if you had a problematic relationship with your mother then why are you grieving for her?
me: because she was my mother, no matter what

i just realized i no longer have a place to call home
even though the door was closed
i always hoped it would one day open
now there isn't even a door

sometimes i forget
before she was my mother
she was a woman

however i knew her first as a mother
and when i stop seeing her that way
it helps me to see her as a person
