Maybe there should be a law requiring that car ads depict the typical amount of other car traffic that an average driver experiences in the country it is being shown in.
Car brand BYD's new SUV ad pokes fun at people walking and cycling, comparing them to Horse & Carts.

It joins a long list of car ads that sell a false promise of convenience and aspiration while punching down at sustainable transport modes.

So I made it a bit more realistic...

Did you know you pay more fuel tax on a single car journey than a billionaire does on a private jet flight?

Right now the gov is subsidising tax breaks, when they could be using that tax to generate billions for public services.

Assuming that everyone drives or has access to someone with a car is really annoying.
I have a medical appt on the outskirts of town, not on a bus route, & on a hideous road for cycling. I shouldn’t have to spend money on a cab for a journey that is such a short distance, just inaccessible on foot.

🚨GREAT NEWS FOR RENTERS🚨

Last night, we defeated last-ditch amendments that would have weakened tenants' rights and shifted power back towards landlords.

The Bill now just needs sign-off from the Commons (and the King) before becoming the Renters' Rights Act!

Policy makers should be reading this and how it ‘… is in sharp contrast with the UK's stop-start funding programmes, which can't grow a market, where supply chains can't expand, and housing associations can't plan more than 12 or 24 months’

Been pushing on this for >6 years!
NEW ANALYSIS: More than 80% of UK social housing still relies on gas boilers keeping bills exposed to international gas markets and climate targets out of reach.

I’ve explored how other European countries are tackling this at scale, and what the UK can learn.

This specific post is about domestic heating retrofit, but also applies to railways, cycle lanes, power plants, nature restoration, flood defences - more or less every bit of build out needed in the UK right now.

@norwichcathedral.bsky.social thanks for your policy giving pedestrians priority within the gate and close. However, there's nothing that indicates this from the outside. Can you add a sign? I just witnessed several pedestrians moving out of the way of a car because the driver had assumed priority.

Absolutely this 👇
Part of the issue with people saying you can't cycle in winter/rain/wind/whatever is because they haven't tried and if they did they'd find out it's almost always fine but another is that we've normalised driving in unsafe conditions and, crucially, being expected to drive in unsafe conditions.
