Calculations for min-to-median ratio: Portland, ME MSA median wage in 2024 was $25.62. Based on a 3.5% nominal growth rate, it'll likely be ~$29.40 in 2028, when the $19 min wage is phased in. That would put it at ~65% of the median wage in 2028. data.bls.gov/oes/#/area/0...

In that review, we found that these major cities implementing citywide minimums saw strong wage growth at the bottom, with little overall impact on low-wage jobs.

Much of actually existing social democracy has been about redistribution within labor income, both through predistribution and through tax/transfers.
