I’m not sharing this so much because it’s incredibly sad. It’s just that I have been near to tears all day and I thought, by writing a little, that I might draw a contrast between the loss of this one amazing woman and the daily devastation of the countless other women in Ukraine and Palestine.
The Jane Goodall Institute of Canada has learned this morning, Wednesday, October 1st, 2025, that Dr. Jane Goodall DBE, UN Messenger of Peace and Founder of the Jane Goodall Institute, has passed away due to natural causes.

I’m happy I had this to wake up to.
Art doesn’t fix the world, but it helps you live through it. Stories may not stop oppression, but they remind you you’re not crazy for wanting a better world. Beauty may not pay rent right now, but it can keep you from going numb. We’re not machines. We need something besides survival.
