one of the things i truly believe is that a significant portion of this country is in the grip of a death cult
"The vaccination has stuff we don't trust," said the father of the 6-year-old girl who died from measles at the end of last month. Tom Bartlett visited with a family confronting an unthinkable tragedy:

Gonna be honest, this type of talk gets me fired up. More please
Canadian Prime Minister–designate Mark Carney:

"The Americans want our resources, our water, our land, our country. If they succeeded, they would destroy our way of life. In America, healthcare is big business. In Canada, it is a right."

Tesla stock is down almost 10% today alone. Down over 51% from its peak. All post-election gains have been wiped out. At some point Tesla's shareholders will want Musk out as CEO right?

Rewatched Interstellar (IMAX copy but at home) and was very disappointed. Script was better when I was in middle school. Looks cool I guess but what a thin dystopia. Not bad but just fine

The fact that as income increases, opinion of the healthcare CEO decreases is fascinating. Reverse class consciousness. Dire stuff

bad bad bad. Daniel Penny was obviously guilty of recklessly causing Jordan Neely's death. Even if you think his actions were morally justified, he committed manslaughter. I worry that this effectively legalizes killing "scary" people having mental health crises in public.

In all of the "Bernie underperformed Harris" discourse I've somehow never heard anyone until @faiz.bsky.social mention that there was a left wing former state who ran as an independent that got 2.2% of the vote while Stein wasnt even on the ballot there!

Finally read Rick Perlstein's Before the Storm. Was surprised that it Mad eme sympathetic to Goldwater—at least relative to the other figures in his movement.

Jumping straight into Nixonland

He had just made stacks of cash pedaling a book about it that contradicted parts of his on the record story, and notably spent most of his time "denying he had ever benefited financially because of his father's position" and explaining how he wasn't acting as an unregistered lobbyist.
also, is it unfair that hunter gets a pardon for being his son? yes. its unfair. its also unreasonable that hunter got dragged in front of congress to talk about his drug addiction. hunter's a fool, i'm not endorsing him. but i'm here to say that i would pardon my kids every fucking time

I see "the US is spending $150B on illegal immigrants" a lot so I decided to look into it. Turns out $78B of that is K-12 education for kids of illegal immigrants, tons of whom are US citizens!

Another $47B is the cost of jailing undocumented immigrants. That's not welfare!
