Tokyo Xtreme Racer (2025) is unequivocally a Genki game and I'm so glad.

It's also the first TXR game to have AI that can challenge you organically, as opposed to old games where they just wallride. It makes me so so happy.

i will say what i have learned from going back to the Original 3D platformer classics is that they're all just great games that are still extremely playable today. except crash bandicoot, which sucks

in my opinion they should make a third mega man legends game

I love that early time of 3D gaming where interpolating between animation keyframes wasn't yet done, think Crash 1 or Quake. It has a really nice snappy look that allows you to appreciate the work put an individual keyframes when you have that little pause.

Am woefully unqualified for all this GOTY talk cause I'm pretty sure the only 2024 releases I played were F1 Manager 24 and Rivals of Aether II

Tokyo Xtreme Racer 3 is a pretty janky game that has some incredible love put into it.

When the rough visuals, slow pacing or silly rival AI don't get in the way, the game can make some pretty awesome emergent set pieces.

Also an absolute haven for car modification.
