Interesting.
Could Çatalhöyük, more than 9,000 years ago, have been a matriarchal society? Researchers got their answer this year after analyzing DNA from 131 people buried there.

'Perthro - the Cosmic Cauldron'

Makes me think of Hvergelmir: all rivers run from that "boiling spring" ... and all waters bring us to Hel through which the serpents of Hvergelmir slither.

Watery place. Offerings.
It was found in a bog at Coggalbeg, Roscommon in 1945, and consists of a #gold lunula (a crescent shaped "little moon") and two small gold discs, of a type known from other examples, decorated with a cross motif within two circles.

Water. Offerings.
Small mirror - Roman

Maybe an offering to the river gods. An unusual find, but similar objects are found around the Danube in eastern Europe.

Found by anonymous and Bill & Anthony Yendall.

Nekhbet was the representation of the Upper Nile. Because of her, numerous goddesses and also all the queens of Egypt wore vulture crowns. Ninhersag of Mesopotamia was depicted with vultures. Studies suggest a vulture death goddess at Catalhoyuk. In Rome all vultures were thought to be female.

Very interesting thread.
See Pythia's posts on #GoblekiTepe for animal images. When and why did animals cease to be 'respectable'? And when you think of all the effort depicting animals in Lascaux, etc.
I really upset some people with this one. First, image on the right is Iao, another name for YHWH surrounded by names of angels. He is depicted looking like Set. On the right, the first ever image that people believe to be Jesus.

This is oddly soothing. What a beautiful idea. Eco-friendly, unlike embalming. Where can I sign up to have my remains reclaimed by a tree? #greenburial
🌿🪦🌿"Folklore claimed that churchyard yews would stretch a root to the mouth of each corpse, making a hidden green-man of every buried body. Their essence would be drawn in with the sap. The tree would remember them."

Patriarchy says the figure on the right is not a goddess and is simply art for art's sake. It's dated to around 6000 BC at Catalhoyuk. On the left Cybele, 259 km away dated 325 AD.

The vulture Pillar is probably the best known T Pillar at gobekli tepe. Vultures are typically viewed as goddesses. They represent transition in death as they are carrion.
