Timothy Cain mentioned this in the context of “features nobody asked for”.

Even if you’re “just a coder,” it’s a good idea to play games in the genre you’re developing. At the very least, so you and the team are speaking the same language

In-game achievements can reduce your game’s median playtime!

And that’s not even a joke. Here is the story.
- In playtests it was ~30 minutes
- After releasing the demo it dropped to 4 minutes, and then to 3

A new Crytek documentary episode —this time about Hunt.

> Development wasn’t a sprint, it was a marathon.

The project brought people together; folks from different teams joined up to work on it.

At the end talked about the Crysis rem, software RT, and other things

Well... Hollow Knight is certainly an interesting phenomenon.

In the light of the upcoming release of Silksong, the online of the original jumped 10 times.

At the same time, the current online is a record. This did not happen either at the release or during sales.

If you think you have a bad day at work, imagine what it's like for an AMD employee who recently accidentally posted the source code for FSR 4, which was supposed to be proprietary, to GitHub.

Nice article about optimizing your game to low-end devices like Switch. From 13FPS and crashes to rock-solid 60 FPS.

A simple shader hides the cat if there are windows in front of where he is currently walking.

There are, however, some issues with the window borders. Unity editor doesn't have it 🤔

I'll fix it later, when I understand where these offsets come from.

Code Monkey shared thoughts on whether it's really possible to make a living from indie games. An interesting retrospective.

What struck me the most (and made me a bit sad), that he now makes more money from courses and YouTube than from games — so that’s where he focuses efforts.
