Absolute must read on the AI bailout-in-progress: apparently it's not enough that lifetimes of human ingenuity and creativity have been stolen and enclosed to create generative AI and balloon billionaire wealth - much more public looting is in store...
This week Open AI walked back a call for the govt to backstop financing for its trillion dollar investments in data centers. This was only the tip of the iceberg; a slow bailout for AI firms is already underway. Read more from @ambakak.bsky.social and I in @wsj.com: www.wsj.com/opinion/you-...

In a new interview, Alpine disavows the manifesto, saying he believes Microsoft used his work to distract from the much larger climate harms the company enables through contracts with Big Oil
He helped Microsoft build AI to help the climate. Then Microsoft sold it to Big Oil.

But behind closed doors, the oil companies that fund those politicians have been acknowledging that storms and floods are getting worse—so they can prepare their own infrastructure for what's to come
Abbott says megafloods are “just part of nature.” The fossil fuel industry disagrees.
In leaked audio from a meeting last month, gas industry representatives acknowledged that extreme weather is getting wackier and more dangerous.
