Three little words I learned this week (well, one of them I already knew), which remind me how ridiculously fraught human relations are: primogeniture, gavelkind, and tanistry. And then there's (agnatic) ultimogeniture. And fideicommissum. Inheritance. I'm glad it's easier now. Here.

Good day to remember that a US President has no inherent power over tariffs whatsoever. It’s not like war powers or pardons. It’s entirely delegated by Congress to deal with emergencies. GOP Congress cld modify that law tonight and bring this to a screeching halt.

On Tuesday three of us went to the redwoods near Santa Cruz to do some geocaching. This cache was called Ladybug Bridge. Aptly, at this time of year. We found 31 caches over a 10-mile hike. Days out in nature help me remember what matters.
