The past 5 years the arguments have been:

Masks and vaccines are Marxist mind control.

We must protect children from Critical Race Theory.

We must protect children from Anti-American content.

Friends,
I serve on the Katy Pride LGBTQ Inc Board as Director of Community Outreach. Katy Pride’s 3rd Annual Celebration is coming up quickly (October 18 at Typhoon Texas- no water rides, but we have rented out the inside of the park for the event!).

We still *need* sponsors and vendors.

These people hate kids and teachers so much.

Texas PTA is an organization whose members are ADULTS.

There are LGBTQ+ moms, dads, and teachers who pay their member dues, volunteer countless hours to support their schools- just like everyone else.

Give me a break. 🙄

New Katy ISD election cycle, same tricks.

Parent Empowerment PAC appears to be just another way for candidates to hide their connections to pro-voucher, anti-public education PAC support.

Right. Because “conservative” preferred news sources Texas Scorecard and Dallas Express are known for their objectivity. 🙄

Katy ISD friends- Keller’s board is backed by many of the same PACs in our District. They’re about 6 months to a year ahead of us in executing their anti-public ed agenda. Our board has followed Keller’s lead in other policies so let’s watch what happens here.
An unsigned IG account for Keller ISD parents claims Keller trustees plan to secede from the much larger school district and draw their own district, leaving the larger district as Alliance ISD. It would require majority vote and a 25% turnout.

In testimony against HB900, Zwiener described being sexually assaulted & said she wishes she had had a book to help her understand what happened to her. To say she “fights for Tx children to have pornographic materials” shows the amorality of the Texas book-banning movement.

Important context on the recent banning (and un-banning) of The Bible in Canyon ISD. “Hostility toward folks who want sexually explicit content removed from public schools” is not the problem. A lack of clarity about what content is- and is not- affected by HB900 is the problem.
Following up on the story of Canyon ISD (temporarily) removing the Bible from its libraries, citing HB900, Tx’s anti-book law. Specifically, we want to highlight the self-serving way the state’s book-banning faction attacked the district in order to deflect from the law’s flaws. 🧵 & receipts below.

This doesn’t make it better… but is important to correct misinformation.

2nd grade teachers should not have to worry about calling 9-1-1 to report school shootings either.

Second-grade teacher made 911 call, not student, police clarify via - www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news...

2nd graders are 7 & 8 years old.
These babies are still learning how to tie their shoes. And want the crust cut off of their sandwiches. My 2nd grader still called “restaurants” “restaur-nots.” Calling 9-1-1 to report a school shooting is the last thing they should have to do.

Enough. 💔

“We don’t even have libraries”
