I desperately want anyone interviewing the tariff boosters to ask them what the last thing they made was.

Well hot damn
Senators Chuck Grassley (R) and Maria Cantwell (D) just introduced a bill to reassert Congress’s power over tariffs.

—President must notify Congress on new tariffs within 48 hours of imposition.

—Congress must approve them within 60 days or they expire.

Winning so hard
So we could lose $200B in tourism, $100B in immigrants paying taxes, $100B in weapons manufacturing, $500B in lost tax revenue from firing IRS employees… is it sinking in yet?
International tourism is worth $200 billion every year to the US economy.

Sorry, *was.

“Munro established mail-in voting in state elections, published the first Braille voter information pamphlet and created the “motor voter” law that enabled residents to register to vote at the same time they applied for a driver’s license.”

What is ☠️wrong☠️ with these people? (PS, spelling error on the .gov budget page is still going strong, three weeks after I noticed it.)
Under the House GOP’s budget plan, the lowest-income taxpayers would see a LOSS of $1,125.

The richest 0.1 percent of taxpayers, on the other hand, would see a more than $180,000 GAIN.

This is trickle down economics on steroids.

They're called public records for a reason. Starting today, WIRED will *stop paywalling* articles that are primarily based on public records obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, becoming the first publication to partner with @freedom.press to offer this for our new coverage.
Wired is dropping paywalls for FOIA-based reporting. Others should follow
As the administration does its best to hide public records from the public, Wired magazine is stepping up to help stem the secrecy

It will take time to restore our connections, and faith in each other. But there’s hope.

Two weeks later, spelling error is intact.
Not all that into shaming people regarding spelling errors (especially in the time of aggressive auto correct) but this is a .gov site from the crew trying to aggressively defund the Department of Education.

I wrote a pretty long post on Facebook in an attempt to explain to my Republican family how the NWS/NOAA impacts them. It's to long to thread out, but I screenshot it. Full post in the alt description.

This informs nearly every minute of nearly every day. (And I am an all caps INTROVERT.)
Can’t emphasize this enough: if you’re feeling overwhelmed by the debased assault on our country, the antidote is connecting with other people in the flesh who are feeling the same way. There are millions of us.

@keating.house.gov Representative, thanks for standing up when Rep Self disrespected @mcbride.house.gov (whose own pushback revealed her strength). Interesting that both your efforts to resist took place in a foreign affairs subcommittee. We need a whole lot less bullying on the world stage, too.
