Trump never had any intention of doing a deal with Zelenskyy. All he wanted was to rob Ukraine of its mineral wealth and hand the country over to his master Putin. Starmer says he wants to be a bridge between Trump & Europe, you can't be a bridge to a hostile mafia boss in Putin's pocket.
