Your friendly neighborhood librarian here...buy physical copies of your favorite books, especially challenged or banned books. Preferably from small local merchants. That's all; carry on. #Read #BookSky #Resist 📚

Seriously, creative folks: Don't be afraid to let people know your stuff is out there for them, or worry that "now is not the time for that." People are stressed and freaked out and looking for the things that will give them a moment of rest and joy. It is EXACTLY the time for what we do. Tell them.

I'm not what you'd call a tech guy, but it's pretty clear by now that AI and crypto are basically asshole things, right?

Did you know? In the Victorian era, particularly mid-to-late century, brightly coloured/patterned fabrics actually tended to be the cheapest; this was because patterns covered up "imperfections" in the weave.

The race against time to construct an 1860s-style wrapper dress before my next book selling event (February 8th) is approaching the home stretch...
Really I just want the world to see how nice this pattern is, though.

Question for #BookSky:

Of the books that you read in school, name one that you Loved and one that you Hated.
+ Give a reason if character count allows!

Book research is its own hobby. I could dig around for books I want to read all day. I could go to a bookstore and look at every spine, every cover, read every synopsis.

Some library cards also grant you passes to local museums! That's basically a 2-for-free-deal 😉📚💙
Reminder for everyone: Get a library card. Visit your local library. Check out books (especially banned books). Use the other resources. Attend library events. Utilize an important part of your community that is FREE! Don't let them forget its importance. #booksky 📚💙

I'm not a romantasy person (just not my thing), but I'm seeing lots of hype surrounding #OnyxStorm.
So tell me: what do YOU like about the series / romantasy as a genre?

(I'm curious, and opening up another space for people to get excited in!)

#Sewing project I dream of but will be forever in the making: taking the scraps of my floral calicos (used for Victorian reproductions) and making a quilt out of 'em

Your horoscope for today:
Be like a butterfly - break out of your shell, spread your wings, and flap about weirdly into the world.

#ResearchTip: Print out your primary sources and bind them - all you need is a needle, thread, washi tape, and a dream!
We learn better through tangible objects, and books are no exception.
Your eyes will thank you 😌

Actual pro tip: the best way to break into any creative profession is by helping to support and advance other creators. Your peers are not your adversaries. They are your support group.

Hello! Thought I'd drop in and see what Bluesky's all about 👀
I'm Ann, an author and historian from Canada. I write historical fiction that shows us how the Victorians had a lot of the same problems (and same joys) that we have today.
