TBH I always get excited when I pass a milkweed plant with no leaves. Then it’s time to search for squishy monarch caterpillars!

I used to joke “Where’s my hush money???” re: the conspiracy theory that big pharma were hiding a cancer cure. Like, come on. Grad students collected cans for the CRV. They were doing science to better humanity. (Salary was one reason I switched to tech.) And this is how we repay them? Enraging. 3/3

To be clear, even though my lab tech salary from 12 years ago came out of an R01 NIH grant, I could have gotten paid more working at Costco. And I was the highest paid person there besides my boss. We were doing basic academic cancer research and it was NOT lucrative. 2/
