Looks like white U.S. citizens are the biggest group of SNAP recipients. People criticize SNAP without bothering to find out who uses it. “They should get a job.” It must be nice to have never been laid off, become ill, or get paid such low wages that you need help.

Look folks gen AI videos are out in the wild so if you weren't already being careful about sharing rage bait videos then now is a great time to start

If you can't trace a video back to a trusted source then I recommend leaving it where it is, like a slice of bologna you found on the street

As you cancel streaming services, here is a casual reminder that only 16% of Americans read for pleasure anymore, and your local library has hundreds or thousands of books you haven't read.

They would love to see you stop by and renew your library card.

"Political violence, unfortunately, has ramped up in this country ... I think there are people who are fomenting it in this country. I think the president's rhetoric often foments it."

President Trump’s attempts to dismantle the Institute of Museum & Library Services will severely diminish access to information, education, and cultural resources, disproportionately impacting rural communities.

So we’re urging the court to keep IMLS operational while litigation continues.

Japan has just opened its first osmotic power plant 🌊⚡

This works by mixing fresh & salt water across a membrane, creating pressure that drives a turbine to make electricity.

This site will generate 880,000 kWh a year...while helping run a desalination plant providing fresh water to the city 👏
Japan has opened its first osmotic power plant – so what is it and how does it work?
The site in Fukuoka is only the second power plant of its type in the world, harnessing the power of osmosis to run a desalination plant in the city

Remember: Almost all of us are the descendants of immigrants who fled persecution, or were brought to America under duress, or sought better lives for themselves and their descendants.

Politicians who stoke fear and hatred over immigration want you to forget this.

Do not.

I’ve decided that this Fourth of July I’m celebrating the day we rejected kings.

Embracing my Bostonian puritan roots of bottom up government.

Maybe I’ll go dump some tea in the harbor while I’m at it.

“So what do we do? I don’t know. Maybe the most patriotic act right now is refusing to look away. To keep caring. To keep yelling, even if it feels pointless.

Or maybe, like me, you’ll just be sad and tired and vaguely terrified — but still here. Still hoping for something better.”

This.
