I'm not sure it's so much standards as legal liabilities. I think if they thought they could get away with worse they absolutely would.

❤️ing in solidarity! It doesn't stop at psych abuse either. I've been assaulted in medical situations more than once. (TW abuse, r*pe)

Like, I've been held down and forced to have procedures without my consent. I've been r*ped by an ER doctor.

...And people still wonder why I hate doctors.

Dear gods, the number of times I have told friends this about various non-diagnoses... I've often wondered how many of these things that "often take years to diagnose" would be rapidly and efficiently discovered if doctors just *listened* to patients.

Oh, agreed completely! Having Ivanova should not mean that other diversity goes by the wayside.

I'm so very sick of always having to pick and choose between -isms in media.

Almost as sick as I am of people pretending they don't do the same.

Ivanova is such an important character for Jewish and Jewish-adjacent representation! (Plus she's one of the great women of science fiction.) And the fact that she's played by Claudia Christian, who had primarily acted in adult films in sci-fi before, also important!

The fact that, in a world with all the assistive and medical technology shown in SNW, Capt Pike sees his future disability as a tragic death. There's fully validated "better dead" rhetoric, when Pike serves with amazing disabled officers who should be examples to him that it *is* possible.

As someone immunocompromised *and* immunosuppressed who has followed lockdown procedures since March 2020 and *still* had Covid a whopping *8 times* and is now bedbound from Long Covid, I am so angry this is even necessary.

The failures of public health policy are matched in tandem with confusing, inconsistent, and inaccurate public health messaging/comms -- which was all rolled out at the same time as a president using the bully pulpit to spread active disinformation, followed disinformation campaigns from bad actors.

To those reccing Lower Decks, is it less rife with horrific ableism than NuTrek, especially SNW, has become?

More about feeds: feeds look for terms or keywords (or emoji). Some feeds, like the Horror feed shown below, tell you how to "tag" your posts to be included, for others, like the Comics feed, you have to do a little detective works to see what terms appear over and over (comics, manga, etc)

The fact that there's talk of 1 in 10 infections (not patients, *infections*) requiring long-term care and policymakers don't seem to see a problem with this just blows my mind. The cost to society is literally incalculable at this stage.

And that all of this tragedy was utterly *preventable*... 🤬

Spread it far and wide via introvert social communities! You know, the ones non-introverts don't realize exists.
