APPLICATIONS ARE NOW OPEN!

With the destruction of the U.S. Department of Education and 2026 marking the beginning of student loan caps for American students who cannot afford their dreams out of pocket, my nonprofit continues to step in to ensure women have what the need.

Tomorrow I drop my 250th #ScholarSunday thread! That’s a whole lot of sharing of public scholarly goodness, so today I wanted to offer just a few reflections & requests when it comes to this weekly work I’ve been doing for the last five & a half years. 🗃️

Please spare a thought for me as I spend my Friday morning discussing “contract management software to better utilize workflows.”
I have NO idea what that means.

The news about Teen Vogue is terrible, the latest in the long list of corporate-owned media layoffs, closures, and shifting tone and coverage.
There are so many great independent outlets, a list too long but this is a fantastic starter pack. PLEASE pick a few & support them if you're able.

Someday I will actually write my essay on “Mannerist-Baroque art and the Electric Baby Jesus Boogaloo” but for now, it just titles my lecture for Module 7

All right stop: you know that I'm confident
Oz is back with my eternal monument
Trunkless legs standing up so vastly
Rollin' on my foes like I'm Rick Astley
Think that you're Mighty? Yo, I don't care
Look on my works, and despair
My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings; Look on my works, is it worth it? I put my thang down, flip it and reverse it.

These are excellent! I’m doing my shopping this weekend
🧵 I really love crafting and it’s been amazing how the business has been successful since I leaned in about three years ago. There’s something so rewarding seeing ideas come to life, and even better when they bring joy to others 🩷🎁

We really felt that last night.. it was just so fun
The couples who no longer need to walk with kids and just sit by a fire of some sort drinking hot cider and handing out candy are really living their best lives.

In college I learned to knit by making my boyfriend a sweater. We got married. Things worked out. The sweater was never wearable. I knitted a Thneed and not even expert knitters could fix it.
I have just learned that the "sweater curse" has its own Wikipedia entry

I do have comments, as a USian, on Nanaimo bars and poutine…
I'd make a bad news interviewer, because I'd crack up upon hearing "this is interference in US sovereign matters," like when an absurdist joke catches you off guard.

Canadian commenting on US policy towards Canada is unfair? And after the US president says Canada shouldn't be sovereign? Come on.
Bessent: "I've read that Ontario is spending up to $75 million on these advertisements and it's propaganda coming across our border to decry the tariffs. The premiere of Ontario seems to have come off the rails a little ... this is interference in US sovereign matters."

I LOVE this thread. If you teach at a CC like me and deal with a wide range of reading abilities, providing copies of pages of texts - specific passages, not whole books - works wonders for first and second-year students. We read bits of Augustine, Epic of Sundiata, the Mahabharata, Homer. All a joy
Important update from two months into my “experiment” (lol) assigning college juniors and seniors to read whole physical books and then having a seminar where they use the physical book and physical notebooks and their ideas and questions to fill three hours of class time:

It rules

Faculty renegotiating their spring class schedules (after they submitted their preferences) feels a lot like students renegotiating their course grades. Just sayin’
