NEW — Kelvin Membreño will be deported to El Salvador by ICE tomorrow. He’s the birth father of three US citizen daughters and has become an important part of their lives.

Here their adoptive mother makes a last ditch plea to let him stay in the same country as the girls. A gutting guest essay:
A mother's urgent plea to stop ICE from deporting her daughters’ birth father tomorrow
He served his time in the US. He deserves to heal here, too.

I’ll die on this hill. We’ve killed ourselves with the branding on “misinformation.” It’s not misinformation. It’s lies.

Remember in middle school "Careers" class when the Occupation Outlook Handbook told us all that being a marine biologist making 80k a year was a viable career path, and we all did a report on it?

This may be Mississippi specific, but I grew up around people who had no problem understanding, “I may hate what you say, but I will fight for your right to say it,” when it came to the KKK and neo-Nazis, but we apparently can’t apply that logic to people protesting bombing Palestinian civilians.

Everything about The Resistant: Desert Sun was captivating, visceral, and totally attention grabbing. I struggled to put it down, always able to talk myself into “just one more chapter.”

Forget traditional conservative media, there’s an entire demographic whose only news source is AI generated FB posts of billboards with text boxes laid over them. We might be in trouble…

get why journalists can’t do it, but everyone else, including politicians, you’re allowed to just say the word “lies,” instead of “misinformation.” (For now.)

I honestly believe our most powerful position in a toxic time that feeds on cynicism, apathy,& despair is to genuinely care and act for a better world.

Cynicism is our enemy. We should check it, incl. on the left. It’s not intellectually superior. It’s the virus they’re trying to infect us with. NO

It’s important to know that a lot of productive activity is happening in person and offline, too.

Not all of it can be broadcast online, but we’ve had hundreds of people showing up to our trainings, mobilizations, and more.

Keep going. Tyranny is eroded by a sea of small acts. Everything matters.

Can’t wait to see how US tech companies are going to try to convince people not to use the cheaper Chinese LLM. What are they going to say, that it just hallucinates information and pads everything with pointless corporate speak filler text?
