How do we fight back? Break up monopolies and rebuild union power.

To the UK: if you keep Starmer, Streeting, Tories, Reform to destroy the NHS, this will be our future.

To the USA: don't stop fighting to turn healthcare into a right, not a priviledge as it currently is.
Americans are spending 1 out of every $5 on health care costs. That is more than they spend on food and housing. Plus, health insurance premiums are increasing on January 1st many are going to be even more financially strapped. Midterms are coming- it's time for change.

The Health Care Crisis Is Gobbling Up the Economy

Zero tolerance is the ONLY and FITTING response to genAI being used in production of media.

Sure, you might think it's too harsh. Sure, they might've only used it for early stuff in development, etc

Listen, it's not even a SLIPPERY slope, there is NO friction at all unless we speak out against it.

It's been mentioned in comments to this but remember: Washington Post is owned by Bezos, a billionaire who's doing what he can to make more billions by going into US-style pay-for-healthcare.

Also, Julia's right. Tories and Labour are both destroying and privatising NHS to line their pockets.
The Washington Post has published a scathing attack on the NHS, essentially claiming that socialised medicine doesn’t work. Dreadful. The reason the NHS isn’t working well is that politicians are turning the NHS into a cash cow for private companies 🚨

At this point I’ve accepted the very sad fact that people will not leave Twitter until it is literally unusable. Like literally ”I cannot access the site” levels.
artists on twitter will do anything but move when the entire system is against them apparently holy hell
why is it so hard for people to just leave that place
"not enough people are on bsky for me to move" jee i wonder why, if only all their fav artists werent sticking to THAT hellsite

While polls are depressing to see, what's somehow worse is the misrepresentation of parties. Reform is fascist-right, not "mixed". Tories are far-right and Starmer's Labour are national-conservatives.

Essentially the top three are for billionaires and anti-everyone else.
UK (GB), Find Out Now poll:

REFORM~NI: 30% (-3)
CON~ECR: 18%
GREENS-G/EFA: 17%
LAB-S&D: 14%
LDEM-RE: 12% (+1)
SNP-G/EFA: 3% (+1)
PC-G/EFA: 1%

Meanwhile, CEOs are paid 280x as much as the typical worker.

Don’t be angry at workers for using food stamps.

Be angry at the corporations paying them so little that they need them.

Remember: The concentration of wealth in the hands of a few isn't just bad for our economy. It's corrosive to our democracy.

When the wealthy and well-connected control our political system, regular people don't have a voice.

The result? The demagoguery and corruption we're seeing now.

One more thing I'd like to say about this: it may not do anything, but ppl should also try to contact their MPs and tell them why both schemes are horrible ideas - and keep it factual (ie, the 35K data leak retweeted), that the OSA's scope is too wide, etc.
Thread.

This is something I can also see happening.
Two bad ideas does not make a good idea. It just increase how bad things will be.

Why did the nation that used Christianity to justify slavery, ethnic cleansing of indigenous populations, racial segregation, homophobia and preemptive war elect a dumb racist crook who's the opposite of everything Jesus taught?

Is that the question?
The real question we need to ask ourselves as a nation is, WHY did so many people vote for this in the first place? Trump is the symptom. Not the problem.
Who would've guessed that "the Mark of the Beast" would wind up being just a clot of cheap spray-tan goo.
