It's astounding how much the game of basketball has evolved at the youth level in the US in the last 15 years compared to the stagnation of soccer. We're producing 17 year olds more skilled than half the NBA of 2010, but meanwhile, US soccer players have maybe a tenth of Brian McBride's grit.

This is just not supported by any reasonably reliable evidence. I understand you've been led to believe this by the way the media frames coverage of high-profile cases, but I'd encourage you to hold judges to account based on their body of work, not the politics of the president who appointed them.

If you think the identity of the president who appointed Judge Dennis **thirty freaking years ago** makes even the slightest difference, you need to take a beat. The man is 89 and, again, 30 years into a lifetime appointment. He is assuredly capable of independent thought.

Yeah, “they’re encouraging the bully to come back,” sure, but if the magnitude of each move is about as minimal as a gold trinket, it would be insane for them to do anything other than “biding their time” because placating him until November 2026 basically guarantees survival

Have you read @edzitron.com on this? Curious to hear where you think the money required to float the necessary compute at a global scale will come from when VC subsidies dry up. Whose product is good enough for consumers to accept such costs? They’re all highly, unpredictably unreliable.

Important distinction
This is technical but important. Investment in AI does not exceed consumer spending. The contribution to the change in GDP from AI capex now exceeds the contribution from change in consumer spending to the growth of GDP.
