@richardpope.org does a great job of showing that it's often senior leadership misunderstandings and desire for "big bang comms" that damage good work already in progress (this time on digital ID).

fireworks going off again. Fortunately Daphne isn't bothered by them but so many animals - pets and wildlife - really suffer when shitwits let them off. They really should only be available to organised, licensed events on specific dates.

Along with its dominance in solar, and America's descent into fascist autocracy beholden to antiquated extractive industries, it's difficult not to conclude that China has effectively already won the 21st century.

I took over the Platform Engineering podcast and got to be the one asking questions for a change.

Feels like we covered every aspect of configuration management and I hope y'all enjoy it.
New podcast episode just dropped and this week @kelseyhightower.com flipped the mic and interviewed me!

We went deep on config management, ClickOps, and why the real problem in IaC isn’t Terraform — it’s knowing the right values for prod.

Average real wage of UK workers is stuck the 2008 level.

Some bosses are collecting 1,112 times more than the average employee wage. Millions forced to rely on food banks and charity.

Workers have no say in income distribution. Govts do nothing.

Can't build economy/society on huge inequalities.
The government must ensure fair distribution of income
'The average real wage of workers has hardly moved from the 2008 level whilst bosses never had it so good.'

so today we've had @hignfy.bsky.social casually repeating a false conspiracy theory about Euan Blair's company and ID cards, and the Independent posting some absolute garbage from Facebook claiming it was something Patricia Routledge wrote and honestly, I'm ashamed of journalism today.

Much of what is written about "digital identity" veers (often wildly) across two broad lanes: 1) the concept of your 'identity' and 2) means by which you prove a claim in relation to that (usually that you are either The Person, or that some fact is true - without necessarily revealing who you are).

Why do we always hear "we can't afford to pay our workers more" but never "we can't afford to pay our CEO more"?
