Passionate about Plymouth, theatre (hence trustee at Theatre Royal Plymouth) and beautiful homes (hence MD of Chrysalid Limited)

Once was a senior NHS manager, so prone to spout off about that as well.
Hey @theguardian.com, please can you cite the research that demonstrate that the public has lost trust in the BBC?

Last time I looked, it was still the most trusted outlets both for news, both within the UK and internationally.

If you can’t cite, then stop seeking clicks.

QTWAIN @rentouljohn.bsky.social ? But, do you have a similar acronym for “bloody stupid questions in the first place”?

Who says public trust in BBC needs restoring? Last time I looked, BBC was one of the most trusted outlets both within the UK and internationally!

Yesterday was a very special day. I got to meet my grandson, born 18 August, which happened to be my 60th birthday.

A fitting tribute to someone who clearly cared passionately about student nurse welfare.

How did I get to be nearly 60 without knowing/noticing that the clock on the Elizabeth Tower ("Big Ben") doesn't use "proper" roman numerals...instead, the architect, Augustus Pugin, swapped "F" for "X" as he thought it more aesthetically pleasing....

Earlier, our Ukrainian guest came downstairs in tears. She’d just had a phone call telling her her uncle (and 20 others) was killed yesterday in a battle with Russians.

This is the 5th such phone call she’s had in the 18 months she’s lived with us.

I can’t comprehend what she must be feeling.

NEW: Macron has to interrupt Trump and correct a lie about Europe’s contribution.

TRUMP: “Europe is loaning the money to Ukraine. They get their money back."

MACRON: “No. We provided real money. To be clear.”

Trump clearly not used to get fact-checked live.

This company likes to portray itself as akin to numerous small local brewers. It is, in fact, a giant corporation backed by a US private equity firm.
James Watt Brewdog's CEO is worth £262,000,000 he is refusing to raise the wage of his staff in London by the £1 an hour to keep them at the National Living Wage.

Brewdog is apparently a 'nice' company, but wage freezes don't seem very nice.

Do they?

This…just read this. What Andy doesn’t know about the NHS isn’t worth knowing.

And what he describes is why I’m so glad to have left working in it, but also why I am now so concerned as my chances of needing it increase with my age.
