“Best country in the world”.

But if you’re fleeing war and persecution, beware! We will mug you on arrival and take all your grandma’s jewellery. Don’t say you weren’t warned!

I guess it’s very British indeed to rob forrins of their treasure.

Absolute fucking ghouls. How do you sleep at night?
Govt minister Alex Norris is asked if the govt will take jewellery from people [fleeing war and persecution]. Norris says the govt won't be taking peoples wedding rings but they will seize assets.

Literally everyone on the left expected this. Warned people loudly about the direction of travel. We were called "cranks" and "corbynistas"
If more people had listened we wouldn't have fascism at the door now

That's it.

That's all you ever need to say to explain who Labour are.

The only Legitimate Concerns about asylum seekers are concerns for their well being and safety. For a rich country like ours to incessantly whine about these people as if we are their victims is perhaps the single most pathetic spectacle in British politics over the past quarter century.
No, I'd say it's racists and those pandering to them.

Illegal migration isn't tearing this country apart, but our obsession with it is. It's an obsession fuelled by our media and politicians. Both profit from blowing the problem out of all proportion. It's been happening for decades, but never more so than now

I'm so glad that Zack Polanski is owning the spotlight & acting as a beacon for the UK left right now - because otherwise the Your Party shambles would be absolutely soul crushing, rather than just kind of funny at this point.

Tommy Robinson is claiming credit for the language/policy being used by the Labour government (about deporting people found to be refugees once their home country is deemed safe)

This by Mahmood is frankly not only disgusting, but also massively disingenuous. It equates seeking asylum with illegality, there's nothing illegal about seeking asylum no matter the route. It ignores that Labour's policies penalise those in need of protection, and plays to hard right rhetoric.
On Monday, Shabana Mahmood will announce an overhaul of the asylum system, here’s why ⬇️

To reiterate, this is about making life immeasurably more miserable and stressful for some of the most vulnerable people, in the almost certainly vain hope of winning over the votes of racists.

Anything more shabby and shameful is difficult to envisage.

It’s just days since Starmer and Streeting were lamenting the rise of racism, and here’s Labour fuelling it again.
I do not understand those still attempting to defend Labour. Every day the gap between them and Reform, on immigration, trans and non-binary rights, disabled individuals etc shrinks. Human rights have to apply to everyone or they end up applying to no-one. #r4today

Sickening rhetoric by Home Secretary. Denying access to human rights isn't "protecting the public". This is Labour further demonising those seeking asylum in language very reminiscent of the far right. Yes, some break the law, so should be prosecuted within the law. Removing rights is not the answer

BBC is in the same bag as The National Trust - under constant attack from the right who don't want to eliminate them, but replace them with a version that is friendly to their causes and opinions.
This is happening in the US with public bodies being consumed by populist parasites.
