I think one of the weirdest things people do on bluesky is quote retweet your tweet but it's an empty quote where they don't add anything, just so their account gets added onto your tweet I guess?
It's really interesting to me how people are getting upset about their data being indexed on a platform which has their primary sell as "it's built on a protocol that anyone can fully retrieve and index and process"
An employee of Huggingface, a site of AI training datasets, made a dataset of a million Bluesky posts scraped simply because they could. It’s currently trending: www.404media.co/someone-made...

Just before you freak out and grab pitchforks, you can web scrap virtually anything 😅 before and even after melon, you can web scrap if you just have an account, this is not something an app can stop because you can just OCR unelectable text

i'm honestly surprised how anyone can look at all the modern "firefox forks" (read: effectively pre-bundled userChrome.css and user.js tweaks) and think they're a viable alternative to firefox proper.
the only true firefox forks are, what, tor browser bundle? pale moon?

My one constructive criticism on BlueSky, as a community: we need to “like” less and “retweet” more. In the absence of an algorithm, that’s the way we find each other and reward good content.

Can we stop with the narrative that Bluesky doesn't have an algorithm? It does, and that is actually a good thing.
