We've massively expanded our tracking of Russia's shadow fleet. Since Dec. 2021, Greek shipping oligarchs sold Putin 35% of his shadow fleet, with other Europe another 14%. EU leaders looked the other way and still do. These sales continue to this day. With @econharris.bsky.social @brookings.edu

I’ve really had enough of these takes that it’s been unfair that Europe has outsourced its defence to the US.
First of all, the US needed both the bases in Europe and European political and military backing for its global war on terror and the wars in the Middle East. It was never pure charity.
