This broad legislation does not protect anyone and instead will be used to block any speech that the Trump administration’s partisan FTC disagrees with. It pushes the “duty of care” onto websites and social media platforms to remove content that is “harmful to children”. It would lead to overcompliance, mass censorship, and remove access to crucial information re: everything from mental health, LGBT topics, substance abuse, eating disorders and more. Additionally, while large, corporate platforms like X can shoulder the weight of “duty of care”, smaller websites cannot, leading to greater and greater concentrations of power online into giant corporate platforms rather than small and medium sized businesses. KOSA will not make kids safer. It will make the internet more dangerous for anyone who relies on it to learn, connect, or speak freely. Lawmakers should reject it, and fast. "A Momentary Glimpse of Life and
Putrescence" - Watercolor

This October, I thought it'd be appropriate to celebrate life and death by painting a memento mori. I've made a few mistakes with this one, since I haven't painted for years until yesterday, but nonetheless, I'm quite satisfied with it.
Two lemons and a skull rest upon a white table against a gray background. One of the lemons is fresh, and the other one is rotting away, signifying life and decay. The skull has a small tree growing out of it, with its roots penetrating it and escaping through the eye sockets, signifying new life emerging from death. It holds a double meaning, stating that regardless of who you were in life, you'll always be under the footsteps of others once you die.

Been trying to read some isekai lately.
Four frames comic about two types of Isekai I found and read lately. The first frame shows a young man with a sword. He says: "My name is Josh Itcantbehelped and I used to be a loser before a car crash brought me to a world where I am a god and half the population is made of SLAVE CATGIRLS". The second frame shows him crying and clenching his fist, with many a cat behind him, wearing bikinis. He says "To make it here I guess I have no choice but to own as many catgirls as I can...how tragic...". The third frame shows another character from another type of Isekai. She's a woman with a fluffy dress. She says "My name is Elise Robespierre and after being hit by a truck of terminal cancer I am now in my favorite 900 pages novel. With many a hot man.". The fourth frame shows her giving a board presentation to citizens, with graphs and pictures of plants on it. She says: "Hello citizens. This is my plan to modernize the agricultural system and prevent any further plague by creating medicine [...] taxes which ..." the text becomes unreadable as she keeps talking to her captive audience.

I thought 'I don't remember drawing this' only to find out it was Al, I was shocked, this is truly evil and a tool for scammers" In this post there is a photo of Hirohiko Araki, creator of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure next to Giorno from the series. By Hirohiko Araki. It’s titled “Today’s World of Con Artists” and it reads: Speaking about 'societal evils, I think that as Al continues to spread throughout society, we're going to see an increasingly shady world filled with scammers exploiting it. Recently, I came across a drawing and thought, "This is something I drew, right?" I was shocked to find out it was actually created by Al. When I draw manga, I add subtle, personal elements that make the work uniquely mine. But this Al-generated piece even mimicked details like the way I draw eyelashes, so precisely that it was almost impossible to tell it apart from my work. If it were based on recent drawings, I'd know right away, "No, I didn't draw this." On the other hand, I honestly wouldn't be able to tell the difference if it were done with my art from about ten years ago, when my memory of it would be a little hazy. The more Al advances, the more this kind of thing will happen. Art reflects the times, and manga is one example of that. Seeing this world of con artists appear in manga could very well mean that we're headed for a future world dominated by fraudsters. This type of 'evil' in today's age will undoubtedly end up impacting manga down the line. Copyright infringement by Al is also a 'villain' that we manga artists must face. The extreme scenario is that Al-generated fakes might start being accepted as the "real thing," and even if we try to protect our work, these counterfeits are becoming so accurate and sophisticated that it's no longer a fight an individual can win. Having some kind of laws would probably be the only way to regulate this. However, because we're dealing with a world of con artists, there's also a very real possibility that laws favoring them will appear before we know it. Personally, I entrust my copyright management to Shueisha, but some manga artists are lax in managing their copyrights, leading to others using their artwork without permission or even leaking original drawings.

The legislator behind the new Ohio age-verification law doesn't even know what's in the bill. He claims that it excludes social media sites. No such language exists.

This is why you don't push something you couldn't get passed the normal way into an budget omnibus.

Rep. Josh Williams (R-Sylvania Township), who co-sponsored The Innocence Act, has claimed the measure will not affect social media sites like X. However, the Free Speech Coalition, a nonprofit trade association for the adult entertainment industry, disagrees. Director of Public Policy Mike Stabile argued that Ohio’s law is particularly vague compared with other states and therefore may result in a variety of platforms choosing to enact age verification measures to prevent legal issues. “It affects not just porn sites, but any site that might have material that is defined as harmful to juveniles,” Stabile said. “Under the law, I think that sites like X and Reddit and Bluesky may have to begin age verifying. … As we’ve seen in other places, services like Spotify may decide to do it as well to avoid potentially triggering the law.”
