Imagine DOGE opens your mail and finds your household electric bill. To eliminate this cost, they burn your house down without warning. Then they total up the bills that, as a homeless person, you will never again pay. On its website, DOGE boasts about the money it has saved you.

Among the material devastation to everyday people, Senate Dems have now blown a hole in their ability to work with the House.

We had an agreed upon plan, House took immense risk, then Senate turned around midway and destroyed it w/ a fear-based, inexplicable abdication.

They own what happens next.

We all look forward to reading your thoughts
I keep saying Dems need to do a daily briefing on Capitol Hill and fill the void, fact check the WH. Hire Pete Buttigeig and give him a staff to do this.

I’m worried that the exodus from Meta and Twitter is what they want. To isolate us from each other.

Isolation is a big part of autocracy. It makes people easier to lie to and abuse.

I don’t have a global answer, but I am working on building a social media space for our podcast listeners.

“The books... they have me.”
- mysterious
- occult

I am very much finished entertaining the 'don't block people just because they disagree' and 'here's how to tolerate your racist family around the holidays' crowd.
Debate is fine, needed, growth. Those who hate do not deserve debate or respect.
That's the choice of the individual user. If they want exclusively sunshine and cute.. Their call.. If they want politics with adversarial engagement. Their choice..
I've been blocked. I've blocked.

The result is I can engage with, and follow more people

That's a beautiful thing !
So far this seems to be a site where people block anyone who dissents. So this is an easy misapprehension to fall into.

Spitting facts.
The Biden-Harris admin capped credit card late fees.

A Trump-appointed judge blocked it.

The Biden-Harris admin banned noncompete clauses.

A Trump-appointed judge blocked it.

The Biden-Harris admin changed OT pay rules to include more workers.

Guess what happened next?

One thing I find interesting about the echo chamber complaint is that an echo chamber just won a presidential election.

Put aside the convo of whether it’s “good” or “bad” for a moment. The far right has devoted enormous resources + time to building echo chambers & loathes spaces they don’t control
The "bluesky is an echo chamber" think pieces that keep popping up really tickle me because they show how certain people genuinely believe social media should be for debating and arguing and not talking about the things that make you happy and sharing art with the world.

There have been a lot of times where I feel like we need to have honest discussions on the left about what has worked and what hasn’t, share observations without judgement, but it feels like there isn’t much space for it. I think it’s holding us back.

I wonder how and where we can accomplish that.
