I did a little digging: Just in the House, there are 55 current Dems in Congress currently 70 years old or older.
@runforsomething.bsky.social has helped elect qualified + talented millennials & gen Zers to state/local office in 53 of their districts.
There is a bench. We are ready. Time to lead.

My hottest take is that every Dem in Congress over the age of 70 should announce now they're retiring at the end of their term.
That doesn't solve it all, but it'll open space for the next generation - and thanks to the bench we've built, there are incredible leaders in every state ready to go.

Something that I think we can all agree on is that the current generation of Democratic leadership is simply not optimized for the Attention Age. Not really their fault! And honestly, they may be better people for it, but it's a pretty pressing political problem.

In light of all that has transpired the past week, I keep returning to the question of whether or not our anger is "appropriate." I was raised not to show when I was angry, told "don't rock the boat." I learned to stuff it in, even if it was justified, until it poured out as rage in my late 30s.
