Got my library card renewed, but of course the book I was hoping for is a “several months wait”. Sooo…Pendergast 11 it is.

Had told B I thought I’d get some tortilla chips to go with leftover chili for dinner. At the store, we split up & I got the prescriptions & he got the chips. And two bags of potato chips “because they’re on special”. We are well matched I tell ya.

Went to put hopefully check out, but, of course, place a hold on a book only to discover my library card has expired. Libby didn’t actually _say_ this. Just that it suddenly needed to verify me & it wasn’t working. Tried to log into the library website & that’s when I got the message it’s expired.

The Emerald Coast Utility Authority, which handles water, sewage & garbage/recycling services has what sounds like a very local person doing their phone message. The southern accent is just as strong when they’re giving the option to switch to Spanish in Spanish and it’s super charming.

Cough medicine? Check. Pepcid? Check. Naproxen? Check. Ice pack? Just waiting for the tea to steep. In half an hour I ought to at least be done coughing & have blunted the shot side effects.

The fact that I can’t seem to convince the iOS 26 keyboard that yes, I really did tap the “e” is _extremely_ irritating. Mostly only seems to happen when that’s the last letter of a word. But I never had this typo before so I don’t think I’ve suddenly started typing differently.

Huh. Well even though it gave me quite the coughing fit, I can apparently breath really well. So I got that going for me which is nice.
November 17, 2025 at 3:04 PM
That breathing test they used todo what you breathe into a tube and try to raise a measurement thing? Well now it’s computerized with cartoons for kids. I think I actually did it on the 3rd try, but now I’ve got the coughs. Ugh. Never liked that test.

At allergist for follow up appt. Last time I got a shot they said “oh we’ll do the next after your appt”. But that means two rounds of waiting: for the appt and then for the shot which requires separate check in.

The shutdown didn’t settle the big question hanging over Washington: can Congress still defend its own power against an aggressive White House? Our latest punnily-entitled newsletter lays out what happened from a balance of powers perspective, and why we're back in the quiet shutdown.

I hadn’t looked out front since sunrise so I missed that someone took the old washer & dryer last night. I said they were sure to be disappointed; B thinks it was scrappers. Could be. Idk. Now I have to call the garbage ppl back and cancel the pick up. (Wasn’t going to be until Friday)

Hmph. Saw “mother” instead of brother while doing Spanish lesson an then when it came back around for correction, I didn’t realize I’d typed “com” instead of “con”. Simple sentence that had I actually seen what was on the screen I would have gotten right the first time.

Then I wondered why the app kept showing Task in the Continue Watching section and it’s bc we didn’t realize there was a final episode. The penultimate one we thought was a cliffhanger I guess? Anyway, I didn’t expect to cry for the last 20 min, but I did.

I wasn’t 100% sold on Welcome to Derry until the 3rd episode. Yikes. Even with obvious CGI, I was pretty unnerved.

Tried the autodry on the new dryer and the drying part was effective _even though there were only a few items_. But it also has something called “wrinkle prevent” which means it nags you every few minutes by turning back on & buzzing again. So manual it will be from here on out.

Susan got too hot I assume & left so I put Sweetie in the coveted perch. Her tail is still switching and I got a complaint growl for picking her up and putting her there, but also, she hasn’t budged.

First winter cactus (Schlumbergera) bloom of the year! Ignore dying leaf stalk of the other plant. Not dead enough to cut off yet.

In all the appliance excitement yesterday I almost missed that the last orchid cactus bloom made it! Terrible picture, but proof it happened.

Sweetie is sulking because she wants to be in the perch Susan is in and the empty one right next to it isn’t good enough for some reason.

One of the things you get when you spend more on washer/dryer sets is noise insulation. The new ones are def louder. But a) I’ve never minded that kind of noise and b) this morning’s pee pad was washed and _fully_ dried in 2 hrs. The dryer is doing the one thing I want. Yay!

Hospitals in movies are always so much busier and more crowded than any hospital I’ve ever been in, including emergency rooms. Admittedly I haven’t been in hospitals or ERs _often_, but still.
