GovTrack.Us, 4.5 cats (4 indoor, one resolutely outdoor who accepts food & pets & reprimands us when we don’t pay enough attention to her), occasional gardener, dilettante.
I think we’re in a drought right now, which isn’t great, but it is convenient if one’s dryer dies. Got two loads of laundry strewn around the deck. Hopefully it’ll all be dry by morning. Shake off the leaves and acorns & should be good to go.

The dimensions of this building would give McMansion Hell a rage stroke.
You can buy hip hop mogul J. Prince's house and live like a prince for $4.4M. Bowling alley, 12K sf, lots of marble. Big kitchen. Not my style but maybe it's yours? A very Texas mansion on #FridayNightZillow. www.zillow.com/homedetails/...

We’ve got our first taker for the new window perches! I expect they’ll be popular tomorrow when the sun is out.

Also, wondering if anyone else has experienced this: 1st, phone wouldn’t take any pictures bc it said storage was full which seemed odd. Then it listed BlueSky as the 2nd most storage using app w/23gb; even more than Music. So I deleted BlueSky & restarted my phone and suddenly I had 100 gb of space

Then Sweetie demonstrated just how much of her is fluff by fitting in here:

Before we discovered the dryer was kaput, we put up two more window perches but no one has deigned to sit in them yet. And I do believe Leopold & Padma _are_ friends. They’re clearly annoyed I interrupted their hang out:

Downsides to temporarily having no washer/dryer: two large pee pads, one flannel sheet set and a blanket are all strewn across the deck to dry; I’ll just have to put the two in use outside for the day until the new set up is sorted out and I don’t have a spot for all the stuff I wear the most.
November 14, 2025 at 10:51 PM
Come to momma…Not quite the least expensive bc those washers wouldn’t hold a queen size blanket, but close to. Cross your fingers that the dryer dries for the time and temp I tell it too. I do not want it to think for itself.

Right. Lowe’s. New washer dryer. Going for bottom of the line, no fancy bullshit we never use and no, repeat _no_ fucking Samsung or LG.
November 14, 2025 at 9:15 PM
Ngl, if it were dead, I wouldn’t mind having to buy new. Even when this set works it’s a gigantic pain in the ass. Literally and figuratively.
November 14, 2025 at 8:32 PM
So our dryer just isn’t heating at all. Explains why the last round of pee pads never got dry. But it has also always been a pain in the butt about waterproof & synthetics, so I didn’t realize before I washed and have attempted to dry my sheets and blankets. We’ve done the easy stuff; argh.

👗 Petunia’s Fit Check Friday! 💚

You’ve seen her rocking suspenders to keep her diapers on, but she’s upgraded to onesies and ‘Tuna is officially the most stylish cat in the sanctuary.

This week’s fit: her blue and green sea friends onesie.

I’ve also been awake since 3:15 bc my body hates me. Tired and cranky and I’ve got to do the folding I put off in the bazillion loads of laundry yesterday.
November 14, 2025 at 4:18 PM
All the reusable pee pads are either in the wash now or outside to finally dry (shakes fist at dryer that refuses to dry them fully) so I just taped down overlapping disposable ones on the sunroom sofa. Thought I’d made a mistake when I got them. Not sure why I chose a 100 pack, but handy now.

I think Susan likes it when I do my little Spanish practice in her direction. Amusingly, the more exaggerated way I speak to her in English results in better, or at least closer to the program, Spanish if I do the same thing with Spanish words.

Pg. 3 of “I'm Starting to Worry About This Black Box of Doom” and I already like it lots.

Finished Keeper’s Six which was fun. Now starting “I'm Starting to Worry About This Black Box of Doom”.

What am I gonna do with my girl? I’m not mad; just tired and need to get more waterproof pads.
November 14, 2025 at 1:40 AM
I think/hope I missed yet another pee spot and have now started the _5th_ load today. Susan is sitting on the ottoman next to me resting her head, and only her head, on my leg. She is so sweet and I just want her to feel less anxious. And also to do less laundry.

Good grief. I hope she heals ok.
Rep. LaMonica McIver had a long Wednesday. The New Jersey Democrat arrived at the hospital at 6 a.m. for surgery but left soon after for a rushed trip to Washington, where the House was scheduled at the last minute to vote on a bill to reopen the federal government.

Susan started walking towards the sunroom again and I broke out my AYFKMWTBS voice. She is at least now sitting between my shins and not actively peeing on anything. I adore her and she is fucking nightmare sometimes.

3rd load of pee laundry today. I just don’t know what to do. Back to the vet I guess. Gave her some Xanax just now. I am just at a loss.

I think the last time the news felt this bleak was the day the mass rapes in Sarajevo broke in U.S. papers. A lot of terrible shit has happened since, but we got the Boston Globe and the NYT at Smith and it was just like this suffocating blanket of bleak. Which is how it feels now.

Bovino is emblematic of the moral bankruptcy of the Trump admin's immigration policy — one that treats hardworking men and women here for decades just raising their families and trying to live a normal life the same as the few actual hardened criminals who pose real, genuine public safety threats.
