It’s with an overwhelming amount of excitement that I can share that after being commissioned and ordained in July I will be taking up leadership at Abergavenny corps, Wales Division.

I’m so excited to get started, Pob Bendith I Dduw!

As the new year starts, so does the yearly reading challenge

Last year I read 17/25.

This year my goal is 20 books

I’ve decided to go all in with @thestorygraph.com this year and binning off goodreads as I enjoy the UI more!

It’s also the Boy’s first Christmas and this was him watching as we opened the last of the gifts. He was outside for most of it.

The girls were asleep and didn’t want to know.

Just melted all my troubles away under my new electric blanket.

If this is Christmas as an adult, I’m in.

Survivors of modern slavery endure years of unimaginable trauma, but at the Salvation Army I saw hope and trust restored through the Dreams Choir. Beyond providing shelter and care, @salvationarmyuk.bsky.social offers community and healing.

I’m loving how Rev Richard’s faith conversations aren’t being watered down within the Jungle and that the celebs are being respectful and open with it! #imaceleb

I'm increasingly convinced that The Salvation Army - a small Christian denomination and a fairly large social services agency all around the world - is not well understood in broader society. What they do, how, where and why seems largely to be under the radar of most people

Remember: in the gospels, Jesus got the most upset with those who use religion as a tool of oppression and self serving power.

You don't see Jesus get upset with anyone for showing too much forgiveness, giving too much mercy, having too much generosity or loving others too much.

This is the 2nd year with my own place to decorate and make my own traditions. My mum is a staunch ‘12 days before, 12 days after’ kinda decorator but I don’t think that’s gonna work in ministry, so here’s my new tradition.

This Sunday is Stir up Sunday and so the tree has gone up to stir me up.

When the Christmas tree breaks in its second year 🙃 packing tape to the rescue.

Silver lining: get to go Christmas tree shopping next year

Tomorrow is Christ the King Sunday and the last day on the church calendar.

This, we might say, is the feast day that most tempts to church to misappropriate divine kingship or to arrogate to itself royal powers that belong only to Christ himself.

And so we pray...

Walking down to Youth Group and saw that this tree is getting removed because it’s stressed.

Maybe we can learn from this, to take a step back and remove ourselves from situations for a small while to reduce stress.

We hide our pain, but sometimes we forget that other people do it too. Remember that the things people present are usually just the tip of the iceberg.

Be kind, you don’t know who needs it.
