Actually, there is data on that. What you described in the first sentence is the U-3 data. U-6 data counts people under-employed and those who have lost hope and dropped out of the workforce - almost twice the U-3. We should use the U-6 data for a better measure.

Currently working on a group project about self care for the psych mental health NP based on burnout (aka moral injury) and compassion fatigue while also experiencing compassion fatigue and burnout as a nurse midwife. The moral injury of caring for anti-medical patients is overwhelming.
