Update: DHS — whose officers conducted this detention — did not answer questions. It instead directed us to the White House.
NEWS: Last night, the Department of Homeland Security detained a Palestinian who helped lead the Columbia encampment.

Agents told him his visa was revoked. He said he had a green card. They were confused—then said that was revoked too.

His attorney demanded a warrant. Agents hung up instead.

What accounts for phrasing like this?

If any other president in modern times had signed an executive order libelling a DC law firm as an enemy of the state, the headlines would be about how he’s a fucking lunatic, the courts were sure to slap him down, and his cabinet was reacting with horror.
President Donald Trump targeted another elite law firm that has represented clients he considers his political enemies, sending a forceful message that he is willing to punish firms who work for people or groups that oppose his administration’s agenda.

The Trump administration is planning to withdraw a lawsuit that seeks to allow Idaho hospitals to perform emergency abortions using an exception to the state's near-total abortion ban, according to a court filing.
Trump admin said to be ready to drop Idaho emergency abortion case
This would mark a reversal from Biden administration efforts to clarify that federal directives on emergency health care take precedence over state abortion bans.

No one wants a paper trail because spending funds Congress has not appropriated is colloquially known as “stealing from the US Treasury.”

If Republicans make massive cuts to Medicaid, it will impact all aspects of our health care system. Millions of kids will lose coverage, hospital and insurance rates will soar and nursing homes will shut down.

All this in order to give huge tax breaks to billionaires.

NO CUTS TO MEDICAID.

It should go without saying, but perhaps not: Removing uncomfortable histories because they fail to glorify the dominant group in power is not the sign of a healthy and free society.
Complying in advance by removing actual history from museums if it’s not glorifying white men is next level. What is most striking to me is the about near universal acquiescence. Where is the pushback? www.huffpost.com/entry/donald...
