The Etsy store where I ordered the custom all cats are beautiful pencils for my kid's preschool teacher just sent me an all caps "THANK YOUR FOR YOUR ORDER AND MAY GOD BLESS YOU" message and I feel pretty confident they don't know what all cats are beautiful means

One small thing I'm doing about food safety as an immunocompromised person living under RFK Jr. is I'm heating my lunch meat to 140 degrees before eating. It's very quick to do in the microwave, it's based on the recommendations for pregnant people, and I actually like it better hot it turns out.

I bet abled people could walk 5 miles to the grocery store and carry it all back if they tried harder, but they give up and use a car as an accessibility aid. What's that? You might be able to do it, but it would take you all day and leave you in pain for 2 days? Sounds like you can do it then.

When my daughter was first born I sensibly got her 12 pairs of identical socks. But then I grew weak and fell for the allure of cute socks. And now this basket of laundry has 8 lone socks.

I don’t know if Kilmar Abrego Garcia has any history of domestic abuse. I do know the government has never argued that’s the impetus for deporting him and I also know an administration that’s 75% rapists doesn’t actually care if he does.

I think what’s most striking about the last few months is how rarely anyone in the GOP applies this simple test. A lot of checks and balances rely on this kind of worrying about precedent but it’s now totally absent, as if they don’t think they’ll ever be out of power again.
Listen to this National Review writer. (Although I would prefer it if people supported the First Amendment on principle, not just out of self-interest.)

I was getting ready to do a big decluttering purge for my mental health but now that stuff is gonna be so much harder to replace if I turn out to need it again. My role in the apocalypse is just gonna be the person with all the craft supplies I guess. It's my hour, I say as I step over my piles.

my rheumatologist told me to practice taking breaths that maximally expand my chest cavity, because I have ankylosing spondylitis in my ribs and sternum. They can become rigid and prevent deep breaths. Well, something just popped and then I could expand my chest more. Weirdly satisfying and hopeful.
