The older I get, the more my politics mature from childish, naïve beliefs like "the world is complicated and leaders have to make hard decisions" to more serious, adult principles like "hurting people is bad and helping people is good."

Today, I’ve been thinking about how words change over time, how sometimes people get into arguments because they’re using the same words but with different meanings, and how power plays into all of this. Jen I stumbled on this article! A great read! www.laprogressive.com/racism/diver...

Cory Booker! I’m glad to see a Dem taking a stand to air The People’s grievances against this administration on the Senate floor! The filibuster has its problems—but it’s good to see someone making a move! www.youtube.com/live/v2utlMx...

#AWP25 panelists, you are On Fire! My fav moment today: in Speculative Memoire, Vanessa Angélica Villarreal suggested that as writers we may be able to restore erased history through quantum entanglement and retro causality!! I'm still going to fight here in the present, but I love this notion!!

From Roxane Gay: "There's a reason this administration is banning books. They know what we know—The pen is not mightier than the sword ... the pen IS the sword." #AWP25

Use your words! Resist, Fight back!

The only "rewriting of history" being done is Trump & co's attempted erasure of non-white, male contributors. Adding black, brown, Indigenous, LGBTQ+,& women's voices to wh. history creates nuance & helps everyone (who thinks) better understand. This EO may well black-list museums. Use your words!
INBOX: Trump signs executive order targeting Smithsonian Institute, putting VP Vance in charge of effort aiming to remove “divisive narratives” from museums, saying some exhibits across the system focus on "divisive, race-centered ideology."

I’m off to #AWP25. I'm thinking about the power of the written word and the many wise and witty passages I’ve found in my local libraries. I’m thinking about the recent EO to dismantle the Institute of Museum and Library Services. I'm thinking about 1st Amendment Rights. Write on! Use your words!

PLEASE call your senators TODAY and demand that they vote NO on the Repub spending bill. It cuts vital programs & does NOTHING to rein-in Musk. Congress has the power to take back their Constitutional power of the purse and pass a clean resolution that protects all Americans. 202-224-3121

I'm watching the address to the joint congress and I'm getting physically ill—the propaganda spewing from this president's mouth; please, everyone fact check. Worse are the two sitting behind him—alternating between smugness and laughter at very serious matters. He's basically declared WWIII.
