Rep. @ritchietorres.bsky.social wrote to @SecDef calling for @DepPressSecDOD to be removed from her position.

She has amplified anti-Kosovo propaganda, calling to "Make Kosovo Serbia Again" a direct attack on the most pro-American ally in Europe.

"Never trust anyone who takes Serbia's side regarding Kosovo" should be a new rule regarding modern politics.

These attacks and campaigns extend beyond the Serbian border. As EEOM Chief Loiseau highlighted, Serbia interfered in the Kosovar elections by promoting votes for Srpska Lista. At the same time, Serbia baselessly accuses Kosovo of supporting genuine protests in Serbia without any evidence.
The situation in #Serbia remains deeply concerning: Activists face attacks and smear campaigns for raising their voices. Media and politicians need to act responsibly. #Serbia is an #EU candidate, and as such, we expect it to uphold the rule of law and human rights.

The book cover was made by a Serbian artist Vladimir Miladinovic. He collected the replica artefacts that were found on the bodies of the 87 Kosovo Albanians, killed by the Serbian police forces, and were found in 1999 in the refrigerator lorry, discovered in the river Danube.
Very excited to receive @leadavid.bsky.social's new book in the mail! Her focus is on "desire objects" and their emotional power in shaping public memory and institutions. And @columbiaup.bsky.social has once again produced a beautiful book!

Russia relies on the “Kosovo Precedent” set by Serbia, one that suggests that separatist movements are to be honored, as a way to justify the capture of Crimea from Ukraine in 2014. Should Ukraine recognize Kosovo now, this could disrupt the current narrative of the Kremlin. Russia’s offensive in Ukraine is not only on the physical battlefield but also on the ideological front. The Kremlin commonly uses disinformation, false narratives, and influence operations to intimidate its targets. One of Moscow’s specialties is turning countries that would otherwise stand as natural allies against one another. A prominent example is Russia’s promotion

Remembering when, in 1987, Slobodan Milosevic went to Kosovo and told the Serb nationalists there that they "will never be beaten again," after they had their fellow Serbs throw rocks at them and blame the Albanians.

It's an old playbook.
"Trump’s campaign was intended to make Latino men feel 'a sense of being cared for and thought valuable.' It was meant to be directly pitched to their sense of status threat."

Interesting from @aselrod.bsky.social: Status anxiety, not economic anxiety, is a better explanation for support for Trump:
I’m up at @thebulwark.bsky.social today making an argument I’ve believed in for some years now: status anxiety is the master key to Trumpism.
