Hot in Herre has, among its many charms, a little slow introduction that makes it feel like a Haydn symphony (complimentary)
My personal favorites are Country Grammar Shake Ya Tailfeather and Ride Wit Me but when I hear the opening bars of Hot in Herre it activates a tiny part of my brain that instantly transports me to off campus basement parties circa 2003 and that’s real power

Two:

Invisible Man. Taught me a lot, not least about how to write and read.

Infinite Jest. I had not known that a book could be so fun that it actually repaid close study.
performative reading, lack of reading skills, nobody's reading anymore -- NO!

tell me about a book that changed you

for me? the *extremely* ahistorical novel, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY which I read at 13 and was like, "Oh, art can be *everything* to a maker, for good and bad"

Yesterday at Vocal Arts DC, Jasmine Arielle Barnes' American Lament got its world premiere, from Sasha Cooke and Myra Huang, and I can't stop thinking about it. A real winner of a piece, delightful and thought-provoking: washingtonclassicalreview.com/2025/11/05/c...

@rideonmct.bsky.social On the 19 trip at 4:50 today, the driver went up Colesville to Sligo Creek Parkway rather than turning right on Spring and going to Wayne. My son and I had to walk a third of a mile back to our house in this heat. Please make sure drivers are aware of current detours

When the fugue subject harmonizes perfectly with the principal theme

When the flashy cadenza ends on a meditative trill

When a singer nails to the high note with seemingly no effort and makes it mean something

When V finally goes to I
This is a 🧵of things that feel awesome. Add your own.

The pleasure of taking off constricting shoes & clothing at the end of a day.

When the cat falls asleep in a bagel on your hip and you can feel the moment it goes completely boneless.

When a toddler uses you as trusted steadying furniture.
