The Global South needs between $310 billion and $365 billion in adaptation finance per year by 2035, whereas adaptation finance from rich countries was only $26 billion in 2023.

CO₂ removal will cost >$1000 billion per year, and will mainly benefit the Global South. Who's gonna pay that? No one.

We can find suitable land with sunlight, water, and nutrients to grow plants, wait years to harvest the biomass and burn it for energy, hope to capture the CO₂ with carbon capture and storage technology, and find a suitable spot to bury the CO₂ permanently.

OR we can use solar panels.
