We just heard an "age verification" bill in Montana, and the argument for how it would work was exactly as @evangreer.bsky.social describes—anytime you want to access social media (or an online forum), you would have to scan your face & Artificial Intelligence would guess your age.

"Age verification" laws are actually "upload your ID or get your face scanned to access every website, ending anonymity and associating your identity with everything you do online" laws and if more people understood that they would not be down for this authoritarian nonsense

I don’t really think the posters and subway ads of Musk’s Nazi salute are a good idea, they’re intended to shock people but over time it seems like the effect will be to make it *less* shocking to see a Nazi salute image in a public space. There must be ways to hit Tesla just as hard without that.
