i think most white americans who have never been Policed don’t realize that you are always already a criminal.

Pastina. Boil little pasta shapes (I like alphabet noodles) in good chicken stock/bone broth with a little butter and black pepper until very soft. Whisk in an egg if you like. Take off heat. Grate in Parmesan and stir.
Great for when you’re really not okay, but need to eat anyway.

Shakshouka. Onions, peppers, garlic in a pan. Cook down. Add a can of diced tomatoes, tomato paste, cumin, paprika, chili powder, salt. Cook down. Make wells in the sauce and crack in 5-6 eggs. Sprinkle feta, cilantro, parsley on top. Cover. Cook until eggs are poached. Serve with bread.

I am *begging* people to stop telling the trans, enby and genderqueer folk in your life to “not make trouble.”
We are so far beyond the “don’t make things awkward by drawing attention to transphobia” line in 2025 that we have no choice but to actively fight for our survival at this moment.

Watching -25 and heavy snowfall out the window. Got a blanket. Got a fluffy muppet of a dog who has crammed himself in my lap. Made chai. Reading a fencing manual that’s new to me (de Brea). Dedicating myself to the art of reducing cortisol. I hope it’s warmer where you are - or at least as cozy.
