Um, ICE just coldly shot an unarmed PRIEST in the head w a pepper ball when he (and everyone around him) clearly posed no threat.

For the crime of … complaining about government policy.

She can be appointed as the first assistant. That's fine.

But the Acting US Attorney for New Jersey will be the one the judges appointed, pursuant to the law.

I'm not a defamation expert, but it seems like if you are going to call something defamation per se, you should at least plead how it's per se defamation, like saying someone has syphilis, or is a felon. Not just that he drew a baldy picture for an odious person.

Whelp, so much for judicial economy. Trump v Casa punts on the 14th Amendment, but basically eviscerates the ability of lower courts to say to the government, "hey, that's illegal, and it's illegal regardless of who specifically complains about it."

Trump involved in discussions about breaking the law... again.

Once again, the Friday night Executive Order demonstrates the evil of this regime. Last night, Trump threatened to seize the homes and savings of immigrants. All while illegally directing "exit bonuses" and the hiring of 20k ICE brownshirts.

This thread is about Large Language Models. It took me entirely too long to realize he wasn't talking about a Doctor of Laws degree.
There are a lot of critiques of LLMs that I agree with but "they suck and aren't useful" doesn't really hold water.

I understand people not using them because of social, economic, and environmental concerns. And I also understand people using them because they can be very useful.

Thoughts?

Where is Kilmar Abrego Garcia? The government says it can't say. "Defendants are not in a position where they “can” share any information requested by the Court." Time for someone to come to court with their toothbrush.

Has anyone considered the effect of tariffs on food seasoning? We don't grow much peppercorn here in the US, so most will be subject to the 46% tariff on Vietnam. Sure, it's cheap, but it's also ubiquitous. A small increase on every meal leads to outsized inflationary effects.

The DC CT of Appeals just gave the green light for Trump to take the next step of firing the Fed Reserve Board and Chair and replacing them with the craziest weirdos MAGA has to offer. Expect the interest rate to go up and down at his whim. The US is screwed.

So - I've actually led Ebola outbreak response at USAID.

This is bunk from Elon. They have laid off most of the experts, they're bankrupting most of the partner orgs, have withdrawn from WHO, and muzzled CDC.

What's left is a fig-leaf effort to cover their asses politically.
Elon Musk: "We will make mistakes. We won't be perfect ... so for example, with USAID, one of the things we accidentally canceled very briefly was ebola prevention."

Oh, hey, look at this. Musky outright says they can move very quickly to restore funding. This outright contradicts the DOJ who filed papers YESTERDAY saying that restoring USAID funding was a complex, laborious process that could take weeks and that's why they can't comply with the TRO.

Holy crap. Between all the affidavits submitted in this case on how Musky's Doggie minions have gummed up the payment works (except for payments to their own friendlies, of course), I hope Judge Ali burns DOGE to the ground.
