German politics has decided, for some reason, not to be boring.

To predict the future, you need both science and imagination.

Britain is cold today. But there is a real chance that global warming could make it dramatically colder, even as much of the world gets hotter.

How is that possible? This article tries to explain: on.ft.com/4ja9vti
The utterly plausible case that climate change makes London much colder

For the FT, I explored a long-term climate scenario that some scientists now think is more likely:

Changes in ocean currents plunge northern Europe into the cold. Britain is hit by fierce winter storms; crop-growing becomes next to impossible.

How do we respond? Please read: on.ft.com/3Ch5F0J

EU burns through gas storage at fastest rate since energy crisis.

A significant portion of its gas supplies now comes in the form of LNG, which has become increasingly politicised in recent weeks.

1. The EPP's veto of Commissioner-designate Teresa Ribera reveals a phenomenon which has been underlying EU politics for several years: namely, that the EU's cordon sanitaire, which had hitherto survived as a top-down norm, is undergoing a bottom-up fragmentation.

What do I mean by this?
