Wars, tariffs , paper, production costs and the battle to get our books seen means there is a crisis in publishing.

Indies do most of the heavy lifting in finding great new stories that the risk averse conglomerates shy away from.

Far as I can tell, Robert Redford was:
* successful at everything he tried
* genuinely intelligent & insightful
* desired by women
* envied by men
* an absolute mensch to everyone he dealt with
* a tireless, lifelong philanthropist
... and he died peacefully in his sleep.

10/10 life. No notes.

What is wrong with these people?
Florida bans "The Diary of Anne Frank" in school libraries. Whoever made this decision should have to eat every page of that amazing book, page by page.

I have been away for what seems like forever - a trip to the USA to attend the HNSA conf in Las Vegas. Entering the US was nerve wracking and yes, someone on our flight was detained and deported. My fears were real but we were allowed in. Sadly it will be my last visit for the foreseeable future.
