A mural of Isabella Elder on a junction box on Elderpark on Glasgow. Created by @scotsuffragettes.bsky.social, it celebrates the life of a woman who did an amazing amount for the people of Govan and Glasgow.

This is the 2nd time in a couple of weeks I've stumbled on Marakatt-Labba's work. It's really astonishing. I'd love to see it face-to-face.

Just got an ad popup for a "Black Friday sale, 17th-19th November only". Which as far as I can tell doesn't feature any Fridays, let alone Black Friday.

I'm reminded of the brief moment in 1998 when we were 1 up against Brazil. Well done Scotland!!! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

The Duke looks so weird without a hat.
In common with every camera-wielding lifeform in Glasgow, I have seen the Rebel Bear's latest piece.

Personal note: London has been home for a very, very long time, but as of today, I am also officially a Brit - that is to say, a British citizen. I feel relieved and I feel grateful - but not, perhaps, in the forelock-tugging way GB News/Starmer expect a new immigrant to be.

Is it just me, or have Google searches become really diabolically bad in the last few months? Not just because of AI - even if you get rid of that the rest of the results are absolutely useless now. It's like they threw the baby out with the bathwater.

You know how Bear Grylls tells you to look at a tree trunk if you get lost in the wild and haven't got a compass? Well, that.

I'm saddened to learn of the passing of Dr Elspeth King, the legendary curator of the People's Palace, and a fierce advocate for Glasgow and its history.

This was fascinating on the release of the film adaptation of Alasdair Gray's "Poor Things".

Happy #Halloween! A few years ago, midwives at the Royal Oldham Hospital in Lancashire created "dilation pumpkins" - and I don't think I've ever seen anything scarier in my life.* 😂😩

The last day of #31DaysOfGraves 31: memento mori. These symbols seem to be very common here in Scotland. Here are just a few from Stirling and Northumberland.
Thanks so much for sharing all your pictures. I've really enjoyed seeing them. Thanks too to @annaandthedead.bsky.social for organising! 🎃👻🎃👻

Oh my, this takes a turn. 😬
Despite what apparently every dad who's ever entered our museum has told you, this mallet, found in the surgeon's chest on the Mary Rose, was NOT used as anaesthetic.

It's easy to look at public statements purely through a prism of free speech. But words have consequences. Being *legally permitted* to say awful things, doesn't mean we must all go around saying them. The bare minimum should not be the most we can expect. ~AA

#31DaysOfGraves : tree. Back to Cathcart, a lovely atmospheric cemetery, (if somewhat neglected in places, but that adds to its charm) where nature and memorial have grown into each other. A good place for wandering.

For #31DaysOfGraves day 26: figure. The first day after clock change and the first proper chilly weekend here in Scotland, so here's a frosty figure from Cathcart Cemetery here in Glasgow.

Can thoroughly recommend a bit of this to offset the impending clock change and wintery thoughts. Flippin chilly though

Uig, a remote corner in the far west of the Isle of Lewis. I have a personal connection to this spot, but even if I didn't, it's not a bad place to lie and face eternity.
