En el siglo XXI la figura del vendedor de crecepelo se reconvierte en opinólogo que busca un grupo social como chivo expiatorio (jóvenes, jubilados, inmigrantes, feminazis...) y a partir de ahí construye un gigantesco hombre de paja para que los medios del capital le promocionen a todas horas.
