Hello! I have no idea what I’m doing. I forgot my password for Twitter in 2012 but apparently now it’s a 🚽 anyway! I see people usually do an intro: I’m a former teacher, current writer (not yet published), and an advocate for kids. Just here for community while democracy dies in broad daylight! 🤠

Want a great slogan for midterms?
"If you FAFO and are struggling because of Trump policies, we understand. The Dems are here for you. Tell us how we can help you "

You get the point.

FAFO will be the theme. Be the solution.

Another plug for Story Graph - it’s so much better than goodreads (you get CHARTS of what you read!! 🤩🤓) and it’s not owned by an oligarch!
people who use goodreads: jeff bezos owns goodreads and if you want a better alternative there is a black woman owned company called storygraph that you can use to replace it. you can transfer all of your data from goodreads to storygraph and have your mind be free of trumpie jeff bezos! win win. 💙

If you’re afraid to write your book because you think its content stands no chance in the coming climate, Remember that banned books (and books victims thought the world would never see) are the only honest window we have into some of the darkest moments of history. Write the book. #booksky

I choose fierce love, which has zero tolerance for hate. Fierce love is resistance, and it has always been radical. Standing up to hateful power through joy and love: that’s the way forward.
I choose love.

Just a reminder that there’s an app available for your TV called PBS RETRO where you can watch all sorts of wonderful old pbs shows like Mr. Rogers and Reading Rainbow, you know, in case you might need that sort of energy right now

This moment in Bluesky is a great example of how joy itself can be defiance and resistance.

We are just hanging out, shitposting, being silly, happy, and normal. It is being treated as if it is transgressive, opting out of the endless negativity. Because in a way, it is.

Joy is my favorite weapon.

Love is not just a feeling.

Love is action.

Love is commitment.

Love is fierce.

There IS a left-wing agenda, and it’s to prioritize compassion over greed. Kindness isn't a limited resource.

Most of our problems could be solved by properly funding public education.

I don’t know if I have figured out how to post so people can actually see it lol. I just have a question for some of the expert folks out there!
Does anyone here know of any early education grants or the like for someone working on content/curriculum for kids? I’ve decided creating education opportunities outside of the dumpster fire is the gonna be my resistance 🦹🏼‍♀️

Our rescue pups Snoop and Martha wish y’all a cozy weekend of rest. Take a break for YOU. Be mindfully and demurely unbothered by the chaos of our withering democracy just for a moment. 🐾❤️

Feels like I'm just posting to the void since I'm just getting started here, but why not. I write a weekly newsletter, and this week I write about how far away from reading and critical thinking we’ve come. It's lacking in our education, COVID learning loss, social media attention spans, all of it.
We need to get back to reading and critical thinking
Because 2024 feels different from 2016.
