After watching what voting for hate did to the country south of us, I sure hope we have a majority of who vote opposite of hate in Canada. I’ll never understand the “as long as “they” get punished, I don’t care what happens to the rest of us” mentality. We should vote for what’s best for all of us.

Paris says yes to 500 more car-free streets!

In Sunday’s referendum, 67% of Parisians voted to reclaim city space for walking and cycling. The decision means 10,000 parking spaces will be removed, continuing a shift that’s already halved car traffic since 2000.

Apart from climate and environmental concerns about fracking, there are also questions about how it would be regulated … unfortunately, the government refused to answer those questions. Government secrecy under Premier Houston’s supermajority in Nova Scotia is really bad news.

Dal prof, Dr. Karen Foster: "One gets the sense that it is not “the public” that these institutions are meant to be accountable to, but the government. And this is where the door is being opened to a disturbing level of government influence over university teaching and research."

N.S. move to allow firing of auditor without cause should be seen as threat: watchdog - Halifax | Globalnews.ca
A move by government to give itself the power to fire the auditor general without cause is being described by a democracy watchdog as a threat to her office’s independence.

An ominous “boom” reverberates throughout Nova Scotia as Premier Houston takes his authoritarian axe to the pillars of democracy. One of the first to go, an independent Auditor General, the fiscal watchdog needed to ensure government accountability and transparency.

I can't help but wonder if this stupid law would have happened at all if the federal government in the early 2010's hadn't quietly, and without consultation with the Canadian bike industry, removed all reference to ebikes in federal transport regulations.
